Inspired by a silly poem written in a state of sleep deprivation and caffeine overload, Fish Bowl is a somewhat sarcastic character study of a confined goldfish. The piece explores two different worlds: the outside world that he witnesses, and the more mundane existence within the bowl.
The piece is divided into two corresponding main movements. The first movement, light-hearted and jovial in character, represents that which is only visible. The second movement is more reflective and sad, symbolizing the solitary existence inside the bowl.
Fish Bowl
He feels confined
By glass
That separates
Our lives from his,
But alas
If he crossed it
He would
Die.
